Board Member Nan Jenks-Jay receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Nan Jenks-Jay
The success of Shelburne Farms depends on the work and support of so many. This includes our Board of Directors. They volunteer hours and hours ensuring the good governance of the Farm, and thoughtfully shaping how we pursue our philanthropic mission of educating for a sustainable future.

So we are proud and excited to share that our Board Chair, Nan Jenks-Jay, recently received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). Nan has held multiple positions in higher education over her career. Most recently, she served as dean of Environmental Affairs and taught in the Environmental Studies Program at Middlebury College. It was in that capacity that she joined the Shelburne Farms Board in 1999.

As a member of our Board, Nan has championed many of the same themes that mark her entire professional career. She has helped us to build out our education for sustainability programs and strengthen our global network of educators who are advancing this approach to learning. At the same time, she has helped steer our strategic priorities to improve stewardship practices and address diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our programs and operations.

We are delighted to congratulate Nan not only for this award, but for all her contributions to the advancement of sustainability in higher education. As the award attests, she represents “the brightest and most influential minds in the field."
