In Bloom in Vermont: Promising Practices in Nature-Based Early Childhood Education
Come make mud pies, collect wild strawberries, roll rocks and wander hayfields. New nature preschools and forest kindergartens are cropping up each year in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. There’s a flurry of preschool, and public school kindergarten and elementary teachers implementing Forest Days—one day a week in the woods not far from their schools. Children stomp in puddles, whittle sticks, paint their faces with charcoal, take care of animals AND expand their vocabularies, do real math, conduct investigations and develop resilience in nature-based programs. Learn from cutting edge educators who are redefining what’s possible in early childhood education.
One in a series of three conferences presented by Antioch University New England addressing topics such as risk management, designing natural play areas, outdoor cooking, literacy in the forest, using natural elements to explore rhythm, and much more.
