Institute for Sustainable Schools Professional Learning Facilitator
- Employee Status: Year Round; Full-Time
- Salary: $55,000 - $70,000
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, with weekend and evening hours when programs are scheduled
Who We’re Looking for
This position directly contributes to Shelburne Farms’ mission to inspire and cultivate learning for a sustainable future by supporting education for sustainability, climate education and food systems education & Farm to School professional learning programs. This position works with teachers, early childhood providers and other educators to integrate concepts of sustainability and farm to school into curriculum and into the learning and experiences of students, in coordination with the Director of Professional Learning, the Shelburne Farms education team, and program partners.
This position contributes to Shelburne Farms’ justice, equity, diversity and inclusion work by addressing issues of equity and justice within program content, modeling practices of culturally sustaining pedagogies, designing for equity and inclusion, and collaborating across differences.
What You’ll Do
- Coach educators, school and early childhood staff teams, and whole schools to help them achieve program values and goals.
- Facilitate communities of practice to share innovations, tools, and resources.
- Co-develop and lead curriculum integration workshops for educators.
- Innovate with educators to deliver education for sustainability, food systems, climate justice and place-based programming for learners both on the Shelburne Farms campus, virtually and in their school communities.
- Plan for and reflect on programming to align with Shelburne Farms’ professional learning framework and logic model.
- Actively engage in on-going learning in order to evolve practices to advance transformational education.
- Work within existing farm to school and climate change education networks to expand and advance the movement.
- Support a continuous effort to build and sustain a diverse and welcoming working and learning environment for all program participants, guests, and staff.
Core Qualifications
Equivalent education/experience can substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
- Inspired by Shelburne Farms’ mission, vision, core values and strategic plan.
- Personally and professionally committed to advancing social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Extensive experience teaching adults and youth, including early childhood educators.
- Commitment to and experience in cultural competency and working with diverse populations.
- Strong leadership, communication, group facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Practical pedagogical and content knowledge in standards-aligned, place-based and food systems education.
- Extensive demonstrated experience developing professional learning programming, curricula and tools for adult learners both online and in-person.
- Skilled and experienced at working in partnership, collaboratively and as part of a larger team.
- Master’s degree (as required by accrediting higher education partners)

- Able to work in close quarters in an open, busy office environment and to assist with meeting and event set-up in various locations around the Farm.
- This position involves lifting 25 pound boxes of office supplies, moving to storage rooms, carrying items up and down stairs.
